Family Mission Trip Scholarship Application

Dear applicant family,

Thank you for your interest in joining us on one of the HPUMC Families mission trips. This is an excellent way to grow in your faith, serve God's people, break down barriers and develop wonderful friendships. Our goal is to enable families, who might not have the financial means otherwise, to have part of their trip funded through a scholarship.

Please understand that a scholarship is a gift from someone who is willing to make a donation to support your travel and the work of the outreach team. This means that your request must be based on real need, not upon want. Requesting scholarships due to loss of family income, medical expenses, or other hardships, would be appropriate.

This form contains questions that some may feel to be personal and confidential in nature. Please know that the information you provide to us in this scholarship application is critical to the process and will be held in the strictest confidence.

Upon review by a select few HPUMc Families staff, a decision on scholarship will be made and you will be notified. However, all of the required trip preparation must be completed before the scholarship is awarded. This means that a registration for must be completed, all trip meetings must be attended, all paperwork is filled out and complete, and a valid passport is in hand (if applicable). We require that all trip participants agree to fund (personally or by raising support) some portion of the total trip cost, even if very small. We believe and have seen that your experience will be richer if you have contributed financially to the trip.

If you have questions about this process, please contact, Andi Fancher, Associate Director of Family Ministries.

Scholarship Guidelines
  1. This scholarship will be awarded as part of the final payment toward the trip. If funds raised exceed the cost of the trip, the scholarship amount will adjust accordingly.
  2. Raised scholarship funds will be received as donations to Highland Park United Methodist Church. They cannot be received as cash or given directly to an individual.
  3. If for some reason the trip is cancelled, the scholarship can be used toward a future trip. If you are unable to participate and mus cancel, the scholarship funds will be returned to the scholarship fund.

Personal Information

Please prayerfully consider how much you are able to give. We require that every participant pay some portion of their trip cost.
